Sazerac (easy method)
Chill glass with ice
In mixing glass, combine and stir together:
• Ice
• 2 dashes bitters (Peychaud’s is traditional, Angostura works well too)
• 1/4 oz simple syrup
• 2 oz whiskey (traditionally rye – we used Ryemageddon from Corsair Artisan Distillery)
Discard ice from glass“rinse” glass with absinthe (we used Copper & Kings Blanche Absinthe)
strain cocktail into glass, serve
Alternate Sazerac:
replace absinthe rinse with another liqueur or other flavored liquid of choice
Mocktail Sazerac (build in glass style)
Fill Old Fashioned glass with ice.
Add:
• 2 dashes bitters (Peychaud’s is traditional, Angostura works well too)
• 1/4 oz simple syrup
• 2 oz Licorice-heavy tea, pre-chilled (Breathe Easy tea work great or make your own with licorice root, fennel seeds or anise)
• Lemon zest
Stir until chilled and serve
* Most of these products were bought with our own money but a few may have been distillery samples … we’ve lost track a bit on the things that were added to the cabinet years ago. We’re going to start marking them because sometimes we also buy something again after getting a sample. This post is not a paid promotion.
