Mint Chocolate Chip Cream Julep
Briefly shake:
• lower leaves from a mint spring (use a gentle mint like KY Colonel or spearmint, not peppermint)
• hard ice
• 3/4 oz simple syrup
• 1 oz heavy cream
• 1 t grated dark chocolate

Add and re-shake:
• 2 oz rye whiskey or high-rye Bourbon (we used Lexington favorite James E Pepper 1776 Rye whiskey)
Double strain using a Hawthorne plus fine mesh strainer into a cocktail stirring or other large glass.

Add:
• 1 t grated dark chocolate
Stir and while continuing to stir, pour into Collins or other tall glass filled with crushed ice. Slap mint spring and insert, add straw and serve!

Tip: freeze the chocolate to make grating easier and to make the chocolate gratings stay solid in the drink.
