Easy Sazerac Cocktail
Pre-chill glass. In mixing glass stir together over ice:
• 1/4 oz simple syrup
• 2 dashes bitters (Peychaud’s is the original, but we used Angostura)
• 2 oz whiskey, preferably rye (we used Elijah Craig Rye)
• Lemon zest
Empty glass, “rinse” with absinthe (we used Copper & Kings Absinthe), strain into glass, serve.

Alternate Sazerac:
Replace absinthe rise with liqueur or flavored liquid of your choice.

Mocktail Sazerac #2
Prepare tea: brew strong black tea (we used Elmwood Inn’s Southern Pecan), remove leaves and add fresh-crushed fennel seeds. Allow to cool and remove seeds.

Pre-chill glass. In mixing glass stir together over ice:
• 1/4 oz simple syrup
• 2 dashes bitters (Peychaud’s is the original, but we used Angostura)
• 2 oz fennel-infused tea
• Lemon zest

Empty glass, strain into glass, serve.

* Most of these products were bought with our own money but a few may have been distillery samples … we’ve lost track a bit on the things that were added to the cabinet years ago. We’re going to start marking them because sometimes we also buy something again after getting a sample. This post is not a paid promotion.
